West Union Notes and Tragedies From County Seat Papers
In West Union this week Mrs. Orah Baker visits Maynard while H J Whitcomb of Gilmore City conducts a Masonic instruction. A son hanged himself at the George Schlatter home near Dunham Grove and Mrs Lao Willenberg dies after complications following a recent birth. A lively party at Kobler’s yields prizes in five hundred, and Wm Larrabee Jr presents a deep sea collection from 1893. Pat Dulin moves to Great Falls, Montana. Church unity grows, urging charity and refined virtue. Ed Grimm and companions visit Des Moines and Ottumwa orphanages, finding a young boy and girl to foster. A twenty-fifth wedding anniversary at the K and Mark farm draws neighbors, with warm wishes for many returns.
