Drake student Yao Jim Christ visits Des Moines for a winter break while many local families travel and host relatives. The report lists numerous visits, births, illnesses, and civic events across West Union and surrounding towns, including Daisy Knudtson birth, drought in Madera California, hospital updates, travel to Cedar Rapids and Sacramento, and community gatherings with neighbors and friends.
The Methodist Church holds morning worship at 10 o clock with a Sunday school at 11. The children will present a short program showing the mission lessons from January. John Tillotson, general superintendent, will explain a special project for all ages to aid world distress. The pastor outlines the mission budget and supported causes. The Elgin young people meet at 1 p.m. Saturday to travel to Cedar Rapids for Noel Smith's announcer contest on WMT at 5 p.m. Saturday. They will attend the Little Cleveland meeting in Giard Sunday afternoon, meeting at the church at 2 p.m. Mr and Mrs Milo Olson attended a Fayette county rally in Sumner Sunday evening. John Berger of Davenport visited Tuesday and Wednesday with his sister Mrs. Frieda Etter. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schori and daughter Georgia May are expected home midweek after leaving January 11 to visit John Neuenschwander in Terra Haute Indiana and Har mon relatives in New Martinsville West Virginia and friends in Baltimore. Mr. Schori attended the National Canners' convention at Atlantic City.
