In fall months September October and November Iowa hens yield about 14 eggs per hen, with the Iowa Poultry demonstration project averaging 15.3 eggs. Compared with 81 eggs in 1933, 11.3 eggs per hen per month were produced in 1943. By November 15 1953 the farm and commodity index for crop and livestock in Iowa remained below the prior year, and town farm land averages 21 dollars per acre higher than in 1948 despite two straight years of value declines.
