Grattan Sentenced Soldier to Prison in 1933 Murder Case
Marvin T. Grattan, 88, Civil War veteran, convicted of the Claude Meade murder in a race horse dispute in fall 1933, was moved Tuesday from the Old Soldiers' Home in Marshalltown to Fort Manson prison after losing a Supreme Court appeal. Sheriff Mike Graf accompanied the transfer following an Ossian Bee bond status.
