New York December 20 six sailors died and five were wounded when a steam pipe on the American line steamer St Paul exploded while docked at Fulton Street North River. The six dead were Fawns Manning Campbell Wilkins McCullo m Daniel Fogel. five injured include Vespera Weard Dunham and Wleedert. Vessel to be delayed several days. no passengers aboard.
The G A R parade committee met at Lincoln club building with about thirty members. Line of march not fixed. likely form at Seven Corners down Third to Sibley then Sixth Wabasha to College. Reviewing stand on capitol grounds. Estimated 25 000 to 30 000 veterans expected for the main parade. Additional parades planned during the week.
On December 20 Charles Abrahmeon was shot during a charivari at Peter Leander's home in Franconia Chicago county and is not in serious condition. Leander John Westhind John Tarnbind and Elof Johnson are jailed on shooting charges as a crowd gathered for a wedding serenade. A fusillade of shots occurred with four fired by Johnson from a shotgun, though it is unclear if he struck Abrahamson.
In Anoka Minnesota December 1920 sheriff Turner Ney arrested two men wanted in Ramsey county for stealing two cattle and seven sheep from stock yards. A Ham Lake farmer spotted two men dressing a cow and was shot at as the pair fled naming themselves Stephen Turner and Nally Wyalzeki.
The national anti saloon convention formed a national body to be named The American Anti Saloon League with the sole object the suppression of the liquor traffic and pledged unceasing warfare against the public saloon. In a separate note, the North Dakota Frange session in Seamon outlines extending oral accommodations to girls and boys at the state agricultural school with addresses by Lathan of South Dakota and Smith of Minneapolis amid strong support for broader Frange expansion.
