A suspect, Orman McPherson alias Charles Murphy, confessed to the Decatur police in Nee that he killed the Morning Run marshal, Iowa, hx, County Treasurer D. W. Bair was also mentioned in the report.

Washington reports say Maceo assassination claims spark House debate but unlikely swift legislation. Representatives denounce entrapment claims while consideration of recognition and belligerency resolutions pauses on foreign affairs committee with no immediate intervention from Congress.

Newark and Raleigh neutral ship movements clarify duties under neutrality laws while Havana tightens guard around the U S consulate amid Cuban insurgent gains and reports of supplies and evacuations.
