American Legion Auxiliary met at the home of Mrs E W Hilgemann with Mrs Donald Larson assisting. Fifteen dozen cookies were sent in November to Anne Whittenmeyer Home Davenport and a gift to a veteran at Veterans Hospital Laws Guy. Ruth Olson reported 3581 coffee strips sent for toys to orphanages. junior members contributed nearly half. Forty-two Christmas stockings were made and sent to children's hospitals. Two new members were welcomed: Mrs LaNora Halverson and Mrs Martin Amundson. Plans and reports on service needs, county meeting, and upcoming programs were given.

The Interstate Power Company treated employees and families to a dinner at the Elkader Marty Club. After supper, films from Spillville were shown. Door prize winner Mrs. Herbert Martin received a poinsettia plant. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Herb Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Louis A Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Alderson, Mr. and Mrs. John Metzger, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Gutcher, Marvin Larson, Howard Johnson, and Georganna Probert assisted with home work.

The Clermont grade school and high school faculty held a Christmas party last Thursday in the home economics room. Grade students provided last year’s refits and decorations while this year the high school staff hosted. Refreshments included date nut bread Christmas cookies yuletide ice cream and coffee. A gift was presented to Supt and Mrs Moore.
