The stoppage of trains between Cedar Rapids and Decorah forces railway mail clerk Wm. Cooley and his family to relocate from Decorah to Davenport. Cooley, with 28 years on the Decorah run, will operate Iowa City to Montezuma for about four and a half months before moving. He plans a Davenport to Kansas City route of 350 miles, departing Davenport at 6:00 p.m. and arriving 3:00 a.m., then retire in four years. The note ends with a playful dig about staying on the old Decorah route if possible.
