A wartime letter from Corp Carl R. Anderson of Company E 207th Engineers, 82nd Division, in France, recounts gas exposure, injuries, and combat horrors on October 13. He praises American grit, laments loss, notes medals possibly earned, and expresses longing to return home to Iowa and the United States.
