Local residents report visits and travels across Iowa and neighboring states. Families from Clermont and surrounding towns hosted relatives, attended fairs, and journeyed to Cedar Rapids, Chicago, and Minneapolis. Several members prep for teaching, work, or study, with Legion Auxiliary delegates highlighted and a hospital tonisil removal noted.
The joint choirs will present a song service next Sunday under Louise Amundson as director with Agnes Bilden and Genevieve Anderson as accompanists. The program includes arias by Christianson and Arensky pieces, a violin solo, a male quartet, and a spoken address by Rev. G. Gunsten. Local residents visit, travel, and a large family reunion at the city park are noted.
A Sunday evening crash on Highway 18 near the Luana creamery left Mrs. John Wede and Miss Ruth Schlie badly injured. The Wede party rode in a Clermont Ford coupe struck by a Nash touring car driven by Lester Wilson. Mrs. Wede suffered a deep forehead gash and facial injuries. Miss Schlie had a broken left leg and a severe hand cut. The driver, John Wede, had minor injuries. The coupe was a total wreck. first aid was given locally before transport to Clermont.
Martin Nelson and Ed Olson retire from business at the Double Store farm after selling remaining goods. Smith of Maynard, an experienced businessman, will take charge September 1. The Nelson and Olson families, long in Clermont, have many friends who would like them to stay.
Parcy Gibson and Gilbert Paulson both of Clermont were quietly married at the U B parsonage in Postville on August 16 at 11 30 a m Rev D F Meyers officiating The couple's friends are invited to meet them soon and extend wishes for a long, happy life together as reported by the Postville Herald.
Mrs Martin Bergan born Jens en in Nummedal Norway January 25 1890 died at Rochester hospital after a car crash near Farmersburg en route to Fairbault August 21. Survived by husband Martin Bergan two children Clarence 9 Hilda 8 four brothers and three sisters. Funeral held at Norway church with Rev G Gunsten officiating.
Lutheran notes invite all to an ice cream social near Clermont State Bank and a Norwegian language service at 9 45 am. Next Sunday features a sacred concert by united choirs at 8 pm. Chil dren's Day with 11 am service and a school program led by Miss Amundson, followed by a picnic. G Gunsten, Pastor. Top dune repair at Lofstuen's Tire Shop.

Evelyn Learn stayed a few days at cousin Mrs. Durwood Davis. Chas Learn and family visited J. H. Learn in West Union. G E Brause and daughter visited Ed Johnson. Oliver Rowland and Walter Warnke called on H. K. Johnson and Mildred Rowland. R F Learn and spouse went to Des Moines for the state fair and other sites. G C Havenstrite and son with I R Havenstrite returned from Bruce Wisconsin after about two weeks. Crops in the area and there about the same as here with more rain elsewhere. Mrs. G C Havenstrite visited Mrs. H K Johnson Monday.
Mr and Mrs E J Kaltenbach arrived in Clermont last Wednesday and have started housekeeping in the home of Mrs E W Appelman. They are also preparing for the opening of school on September 2.
