Medary Faces Contempt Charge in Allamakee Court
A petition filed in Allamakee district court accuses E F Medary former publisher of the Waukon Democrat of contempt of court. It stems from a civil case last Saturday when Medary allegedly refused to answer questions about property dispositions after court orders, and allegedly smoked a cigarette on the witness stand. The filing notes Medary’s alleged insolent and contumelious conduct toward the court. In local news Mrs Will Kelly of Fayette visited J D Shaffer’s home Saturday. Mrs G L Smith remains ill and is cared for by her daughter Hazel and family.

Johnson Construction Co completes road work between Guttenberg and Garnaville
The Al Johnson Construction Co finished paving the Guttenberg to Garnaville road and will move to an area near Millville. The new hard surfaced road may open Saturday and the No 5 detour will no longer be needed. Roads south of town remain detoured but in good condition, drying quickly after rain. Clar ence Becker of Fort Worth visited his mother Mrs Alice Becker. Mr and Mrs C O Torkelson hosted the American Legion and Auxiliary. Melvin Brown and Col Mounce of Marshfield visited Elgin relatives.
