Transmission traced to contaminated garden produce feed. The child died within five days of first symptoms, the mother’s illness progresses despite slower onset.
Lieut Moos of the Twenty-fifth United States infantry led a heavily equipped detachment on bicycles from Fort Missoula to Harrison covering 135 miles in twenty-two hours. The unit, weighing 276 pounds with gear, rode through rocky terrain and open country to test bicycle practicality for military purposes on a 1000 mile tour.
At the Republican county convention Frederick K.R. Leavith of Potter County was nearly unanimously chosen the nominee for Congress from the six teenth district. This leaves two Republican candidates in the field for the race.

In Butte Montana Aug 19 a mine accident at the St Lawrence shaft fatally injured foreman Peter Ryan and several others. The cage dropped 1200 feet as the engine exploded and parts scattered. Two men below at the 1200 foot level, John Manning and John Campbell, were likely killed. Suffering debris filled the shaft as rescuers descended but could not reach the bodies. The surface crew escaped injury, though the building suffered major damage.
