Local ads and notices spark Elgin shopping rush
A bustling collection of local ads tout Lincoln cigars at Stoehr and R. J Stoehr grocers, Capper Shaffer Capper Minsters and Lehman lumber, Capper Shaffer dress goods, and Benson Brothers lumber. Fall and winter dress goods arrive, straw hats sell cheap, and prices drop on fruit, shoes, and furniture. A depot addition nears completion, a hot week idles work, and a Clermont ball game draws crowds.
