Illyria Honors community Day and Homecoming with two big days
Illyria's tenth annual Community Day on August 8 drew a capacity crowd with a day packed by morning sports a big tent program and an evening play Eyes of Love plus a generous fundraiser raising about 150 dollars. The following Sunday hosted a robust homecoming with church talks music and a large enrollment at the Little White Miyria Church reflecting on changes in facilities and traditions.

A chef notes returning after twenty five years to Illyria for the Friendly church homecoming. After migrating to California to run a fruit farm, the narrator travels by airplane back to Illyria, staying for the community day and celebration.
Homecoming Music Showcases Rural Iowa Talent
Under a tent at a Fay ette county rural church Homecoming featured a local pianist who played classical pieces with ease between farm youth performances. A twelve piece orchestra, a singing young woman, and a home talent play followed, highlighting genuine local culture and community guidance from older farmers and church.

Bessie Peters of Clermont spent several days with Ella Peters. Ida Mattocks returned home from West Union after a week visiting relatives. Dozens of neighbors including Eliza Habeger, Leone Popenhagen, Alvina Frieden, Marjorie Wilson, Lola Hanson and many others hosted meals and gatherings across Elgin, McGregor, West Union, and surrounding towns. Community day and Homecoming drew many former residents back to the area.
