He arrived in July after a 23 hour air trip, describes vast northern forests, and notes the Eskimos live in bear hides with bare essentials. Immigrant Swiss and Norwegian settlers shaped Shinbone Valley along Turkey River, with Fort Atkinson era conflicts, Sac and Fox ties, and Sioux battles. The valley, called Little Switzerland, later housed canning, hatchery, and mills, growing into a friendly, modest town.

Hospitalized Home from Postville Hospital Patient Return

Lil Olson returned home from Postville hospital where he had been a medical patient for about a week. He is cared for at his mother Emma Olson's home. Roberta Wilson broke her left arm Monday evening just above the wrist. Kenneth Schori of Chicago is a medical patient in the Veterans Hospital at Hines in room 220 Ward 6. Lydia Martie was a patient at St Joseph's hospital from Wednesday to Friday for observation and minor surgery.
