In Racine Wisconsin on August 7 a man registered at Hotel Racine as Robert Miller matching the description of William Bartholin of Chicago, wanted for murders. Clerks compare signatures as experts examine records. In Guthrie Oklahoma Chicago authorities wire to locate Bartholin and associate William J Bartholin with Harry Church.
Chicago officials report William Waldron saw William Bartholin July 30 near the field where Minnie Mitchell and her clothing were found. Waldron testified Bartholin boarded a northbound streetcar shortly after, fueling theories the murder occurred that night and the suspect may have planned it at the scene.

Mrs Prana eis Hening Speedy widow of Joshua Speedy dies aged 83 in Loulaville Kentucky on August 12. She is noted as a friend of Abraham Lincoln and the report records 18 deaths in the community from the era.

Shenandoah Pa Aug 11 The National Guard officers and men in camp here expect a long field duty as mine workers strike continues. Militia likely kept on duty to end of strike. District President Fahey arrives to aid Jera leaders with relief and locals report little distress among strikers handled by unions. Some locals refuse defense fund aid saying they can manage locally.
The National Teamsters Union of America convention adjourned in Joliet on August 11. E. M. Turley of Chicago was re-elected secretary and treasurer. Chicago trustees chosen were W. J. Gibbons, J. R. Mizpartick, and William Higgins.
Rev Father Cosgrove of Ripon, guided by Thomas Cuthero, compared ancient maps and sites near Port Hope. He will report to Bishop Messmer that Mascoutens, the great Indian city and St James mission site, has been found near Governor's Head on the Fox River. Historical notes include Nicolet and Marquette visits and Allouez founded the mission.
Lancaster Ohio August 11 1900 General Chan H Grosvenor was unanimously named for congress by the Eleventh district Republicans at a former convention. A new convention followed after redistricting by the legislature, but the nomination stood.

Reval Aug 9 The German imperial yacht Hohengollern with Emperor William aboard sailed for Wisby at 4 pm. The czar and emperor stayed together with cordial intercourse. Before departure the emperor awarded Red Eagle to Russian officials, and the czar received William’s portrait and a silver helmet adorned with jewels. The czar also gave a gold writing set to William.
Several thousand residents greeted General Jacob H. Smith as he arrived back from the Philippines in Portsmouth Ohio on August 12. State troops escorted him through the city as he received an ovation from the crowd.
