Frank Campbell fell unloading a heavy box of type from the Huls dray at the office Saturday, fracturing three ribs and to be off duty for some time per Fay ette County Union. Belleview loses leading industry as Dorchester and Hughey close their saw mill, built 1866 by Potter and Hayes, operated by the current owners since 1885, likely to be dismantled and shipped north. Many Bellevue men lose work.

Pacific coast extension opens for freight traffic only
The C. M. St. P Pacific coast extension is open for freight but not for passenger service. It claims freight delivery to the coast in six days from the Twin Cities, seven from Chicago, ten from the middle states, and about two weeks from New England, praised as a miracle by observers recalling Lewis and Clark and the 1849 era.
