Political debating tale told at Chautauquas in Iowa and Minnesota
The Decorah Republican recounts a long anecdote where Judge Wade of Iowa’s Second District and Congressman J Adam Beda entertained Chautauqua audiences with parlor politics and a tale about a miller and a stubborn young man. The story, tied to Spirit Lake history, traces a red mill’s role in pioneer life and dates back about forty years.
