Boys Rooms Need Durable Decor
A guide advises durable easy to clean furniture and coverings for boys rooms. It suggests washable paint and vinyl materials to withstand active use without resorting to harsh woods or plaids.
Practical furnishings for a boy's room
The guide suggests linoleum floors to ease housekeeping and machine washable rugs. Window treatments should be simple with sturdy fabrics. Emphasizes strong durable furniture, mar resistant finishes, a comfortable bed, and a good firm mattress. Recommends storage for clothes and toys, plus a desk chair and lamp for school age children.
Savings Bonds for Education Fund and Investment Advice
A reader asks how Savings Bonds build an education fund for a child. Investing 37.50 monthly in a 50 bond yields about 9,713 by age 18. stepping to 56.25 monthly in the 75 bond yields about 14,570. Bonds should be in the child’s name with a parent as beneficiary and taxed on accrual basis to keep value intact for education.
Not Necessary to Keep Savings Bond Numbers for Replacement
Answer states that tracking bond numbers is not required but advisable to prove ownership. Providing numbers helps establish identity and ownership yet is not essential to replace lost, stolen, or destroyed bonds.
