Central Committees Elect New Members in Iowa Parties

Republicans and Democrats elected new members to their state central committees as they prepare for the fall general elections. The GOP named eight changes across eight districts and the Democrats seven in the 16 member panels. Jake More remains Democratic state chairman. Don Pierson heads the Republicans. A notable anecdote involved U.S. Senator Guy Gillette. Street costs for Iowa cities rose to 6.03 per capita last year. Young Republicans elected Clarold Rogers as state president, with Mary Jane Chittenden named state vice chair. Democrats at their convention appeared to know the Republican governor candidate better than Republicans did at their own gathering.
