Schori family picnicked in Decorah and visited Oscar Bauder. Serene Yack of Independence stayed with N. W. Evans and Gus Boyer. her dad picked her up Tuesday. H. W. Helms, Clive, and L. E. Nelson bought Herefords in Reha Missouri to boost herds. Margaret Young and Flossie Capper went to Cedar Rapids. Capper will stay with the Young family. Elgin amateur dramatists work on a play for the Hautau Qua home event. Arthur Adney tried a Ford stunt, veering into gravel. he narrowly escaped injury and the car suffered minor damage. J. H. Carmichael, Civil War veteran, marked his 85th birthday with relatives visiting.
Lena Hunsberger born near Elgin February 7 1886 died July 23 1950 at age 84. She married Frank Hunsberger November 29 1888 in Elgin and had three children Mrs Jerome Yearous Ellen at home and Mervin. Survived by three sisters five brothers and several grandchildren nieces and nephews. Funeral attended by relatives from Remsen Colesburg Elkader West Union Eldorado and Chas Kohler. Casket bearers included Max Oscar Hunsberger Earl L Kiple Walter Kohler and Harold Kimball. Relatives express thanks for support during illness and death. 48p
