Contour Demonstrations for Farmers in Fayette County
Fayette county farmers plan a contour planting demonstration at the Harry L. Olsen farm in Union township near West Union. The event explains contour farming across slopes and around hills, avoiding straight lines aligned to roads or fences. A separate terracing display at Kenneth J. Kerr farm in Clermont township drew interest for future work, with barley planned after terracing. Seed corn treatment promises higher returns, costing 2 cents per acre and potentially lifting income by about $2 per acre, by reducing seed borne fungi and protecting seedlings in soil.
