Two real estate transactions occurred in Clermont last week. Will J Nelson bought a building housing his pin company from Marvin Johnson, the structure damaged by fire and under repair. K Peterson purchased the former Harold Landsgard house.
The Clermont Study Club held its final meeting at Mrs. Herbert Dummermath's home on Tuesday evening with a picnic dinner. Most members attended. Mrs. H A Lubke and new member Mrs. Alfred Baechler were absent. Mrs. S B Knudsen announced her upcoming move to Beaumont, Texas, and was given a club gift. Russell Larson led the program on The Beginning of Jazz and Blues Music, with records illustrating the review. Meetings will resume in September.
Card of thanks extends gratitude for baby cards and sympathy after a father’s death. Clermont high school students earned numerous Division I and II ratings at the April 13 solo and ensemble contest in Volga. Winners include JoAnn Moore, Cathryn Crowe, Arlene Knudsen, and many others across piano, voice, brass, woodwind, and percussion categories. The page also covers Iowa History Exhibit setup, Cedar Falls science fair attendance, personality winners JoAnn Moore and LaVerne Swenson, and upcoming prom plans with class-night preparations.

Mr and Mrs Albert Tinderholt announce the birth of a daughter Jayne Beth weighing 10 pounds five ounces at Decorah hospital on Monday April 15 Thelma Lyn Kaas is her mother Their son Alan has been staying with his uncle and aunt Mr and Mrs Vernon Anderson.
Ill and hospitalized Mrs. Joe Larson is at Iowa City for clinic work. Mrs. Albert Christianson returned from University hospital Iowa City after major surgery and is improving nicely. Mrs. Daisy Stry is a medical patient at Palmer Memorial hospital in West Union. Mrs. Joe Huntzinger, mother of Mrs. Herbert Martin, suffered a severe setback after a fall. Georgia Triem undergoes a delicate heart operation at University hospital Iowa City. R.N. Elsie Jerdee spent Easter vacation at home. LuAnn Renger was baptized at East Clermont Lutheran Church with sponsors from Parkdale Oregon. Various local families hosted and visited, with dinners, surprise parties, and Easter holiday gatherings noted.
West Clermont and East Clermont share church activities with choir practice catechetical classes Sunday school and divine worship times. Hostesses include Mrs Roy Swenson Mrs Tilpher Bilden Mrs Amyanda Ruroden and others with programs led by Mrs Wm Bacon. Labeled attendees include Messrs Becker Erhardt Guyer Tatro Schweinefus Berg Cummings Olson and others.
The Gospel Message Church, located three miles west of Clermont on Highway 18, invites the public to morning worship at 10 45 a m and an evening evangelistic service at 8 00 p m led by Pastor Lester Lease. A welcome is extended to all.
The Elgin Methodist Church will host the quarterly conference Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Official board members are urged to attend, followed by a covered dish dinner at noon. Also listed are numerous Easter guest visits and family dinners across several local households.
Eleven men gathered at Geo V Larson home on Wednesday for a Good Neighbors deed to seed his field. Larson recently had surgery and is hospitalized briefly but slowly improves, delaying full manual work. Participants included Lyngaas, Hogan, Smale, Anderson, Leehy, Kamp, Walvatne, Horan, Olson, Woodrow Hyde, and La Verne Hyde, with meals provided by Larson’s relatives and neighbors.
A community card thanks well wishers for cards gifts and visits during a hospital stay and notes thanks to Rey Knudsen. The column records a birthday party for Mayme Semler with several attendees, visits among families, a wedding trip to Indianapolis for Marilyn Loomis and Wendell Loftsgard, travel to Waterloo for a funeral, and Easter weekend gatherings. Donald Gerner returns to Quaker Oats Cedar Rapids after military service.
The Woman's Service Club met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Burrow. Mrs. Gress thanked the ladies for Easter seals cheer cards. Readings were given by Irene Ostlie, Otto Vasby, Gilbert Anderson and Claude Gress. They exchanged flower seeds and plants and played take away bingo.
The Mission Society met on Wednesday April 17 with hostesses Morris Richard Olson Lyle Aanes Henry Amundson Normal Olson Louis Thies Tillie Swenson Clarence Thorson and Victor Guyer. Mrs LaVerne Hyde led Bible study and a girls trio sang. Delegates to the spring workers conference May 10 at Big Canoe church were Mrs Louie Hovland and Mrs Millard Nelson Jr with alternates Mrs Louie Olson and Mrs Harry Gunderson.
Selmer Sampson and friend of Osage were dinner guests at the Berentson home. Sunday visitors included the Don Burget family of Fayette and Mr and Mrs Guy Williams with others in West Union. The Pratt families from Elk Point and Cedar Rapids visited Tatro and Pratt households for a family reunion and Easter dinner. Clermont hosted many for church services and social visits. Mr and Mrs Keith Thoma left Marion April 24 for a wedding in Boulder Cole and planned to return April 30.
