Chicago report describes a poor six person colored family found dead in a house at Thirty fourth and State streets. Police believe husband Jones Butler, a upholsterer, poisoned the family and then himself. Butler's body lay across the others fully clothed. the others were undressed. Despondency over poverty and threats to the family are cited as possible causes.
A Lib eral landing near Bocas de Toro led to heavy fighting with government forces. By Thursday evening Lib erals outnumbered the defense and captured the town by morning. About 150 soldiers were killed on both sides, with Liberal losses heavier. The US gunboat Maching landed 100 marines at Bocas.

Mrs. John A. Hargreaves, 45, was found dead with bruises. Her husband said she suffered a fit during which they toppled about the room and her head struck furniture. Coroner's jury ruled death caused by violence by unknown hands. Hargreaves was arrested.
