Dismissal Resolution Sparks Stormy Iowa Senate Session

The Iowa State Senate recommended to Governor Wilson removal of all three state board of control members after the stormy session. Debate centered on whether to forward with or without recommendation as advocates and opponents clashed over the board’s future. Orphans’ welfare revealed Iowa’s neglect of needy children, prompting plans for better housing and care. The board may soon supervise all institutions as a single unit, curbing personal direction. Governor Wilson pressed House reductions, unhappy with $2.5 million for the State University and $2.49 million for Iowa State College, amid economy bloc efforts and jitters in committee. Page six continued the story.
