West Union defeated Elgin 7 to 2 in seven innings on Tuesday as pitcher Tommie Weston earned the win and Wedo took the loss after a rough inning. Lehman stood out on defense and Smith, the pinch hitter, delivered a sharp two base hit.
The Wahanka Campfire Girls met March 26 at the school house and elected Betty Larsen president, Bonita Grover secretary, Donna Dean treasurer, Barbara Crider scribe. A April 9 meeting at Betty Larson’s home planned an April 23 picnic with new members Janice Torkelson Shirley Sutter and Roberta Mossy joining.
Dale walked Jane home while Jimmy Bovis shows a crush on Joyce G and Joan enjoyed the dance Wednesday night. Karolin and Gerald S. were upset by onlookers’ car outside their home Tuesday. Professor Capper warns of poison as he orders Barium Platinocyanide for the science department. Ione T. and Gerald G. may be rekindling their romance as spring arrives, and a girl at the carnival mislaid her watch, causing a minor stir with a stranger at Oclwein Wednesday night.
In the District Court of Iowa Fayette County a final report has been filed by Q. H. Larson as Executor of the Benson estate. He seeks court approval and discharge, with heirs and legatees named among interested parties and creditors urged to respond. The notice informs all named heirs Betsey B. Larson Adelia B. Torkelson Cornelia B. Embretson Josephine Moellerman-Weldun Belver Snyder William Torkelson Ian Torkelson Sylvan Torkelson Amy Lou Torkelson Emer M. Benson Ruth Moellerman and others of the proceeding and required actions.
The court set the time and place for the hearing on the Final Report. On April 13 1945 the Final Report was presented and the hearing date fixed for April 26 1945 at 10:00 A M in the West Union Court House Fayette County Iowa. Interested heirs legatees creditors and claimants are notified to appear and object or the court may approve the Final Report and discharge the executor and release bondsmen. Elgin Boy Scouts missed a meeting to hike to Schori Falls camp. Patrol I built two more fireplaces while Patrol I grilled supper and the group cleaned up. They tried to blaze a new trail, some strayed, and fishing yielded no catch. Production of soap in the United States is forecast to be about 1500 million pounds less this year than last.
