Farm Bureau Presses for Farm Gas Tax Exemption
The Iowa Farm Bureau federation says it will press for the principle of taxing farm inputs only once, not seeking to override Gov. Loveless veto on a sales tax exemption for farm used gasoline. The measure faces uncertain House action as lawmakers weigh exemptions and tax extension votes. The highway commission lists 104 projects totaling 269 miles set for April 30 with $6.5 million in primary highway work. County engineers plan about $28 million in farm to market construction this year, funded partly by 1958 funds and transfers from secondary road funds.
