Indianapolis Sept 190- The Republican state convention opened with full attendance and strong enthusiasm. Nominations announced for lieutenant governor and other state offices include B S Robertson Allan County for lieutenant governor and Charles L Griffin Lake for secretary of state among a slate of several candidates. Trading and canvassing characterized the opening hours as Senator Harris served as permanent chairman.
In Sedalia Missouri the Republican state convention after a long session adopted a platform proposing constitutional amendment referendums on petition. It nominated John L Cravens for supreme judge N K Warren for superintendent of public instruction and G W Hutchins for railway commissioner, all from various counties.
About 200 delegates gathered led by Col Norton to plan a national conference of Knights of Labor Anti Monopolists Greenbackers and allies. Thomas Gruellie chaired as resolutions denounced party rings and called for an industrial party uniting labor groups and reformers.
