Spring millinery and local injuries reported

Mrs. Geo. B. Speers received a large invoice of spring millinery. Dr. Morse returned from Kentucky after being summoned for his mother's serious illness. Mrs. Kennedy, 92, was injured when a barn door blew and knocked her down, breaking her thigh. she lay in cold water over two hours until Dr. Young began treatment.

Careless act leads to shooting at Wilson Ziegers

At Wilson Ziegers restaurant on Tuesday night Rozelle Edick was shot in the shoulder by owner Buffalo Zieger who drew a revolver after a boy traded him a weapon. Edick wrestled the gun away as it discharged. The wound is not serious. The incident, described as gross careless or criminal carelessness, prompts calls for strict enforcement of gun pointing laws.

Protracted Meetings Begin at Steamboat Church

Protracted meetings started February 27 at the M E church in Steamboat. The Steamboat Circuit holds a quarterly meeting at Steamboat on April 2 and 8 with elder Magee preaching Saturday evening and Sunday. Beecher Dies After Prolonged Illness

Henry Ward Beecher suffered an apoplectic attack last Friday and remained comatose until Tuesday morning when he died in his 14th year of life after a 50 year ministry and 40 years as pastor of Plymouth Church Brooklyn. He was regarded as one of the country’s most remarkable men.

Obituary of Hannah L. Ellsworth Lytle

Hannah L. Ellsworth Lytle, born August 23 1848, died March 4 1887 at her Providence township home. She married Wilson Lytle September 10 1870 and joined the Christian church in 1877. Survived by her husband and three children, the youngest four months old. Funeral held at Eldora Christian church with Rev J W McClure away, Rev J Dolph officiating. She faced death with strong faith, awaiting eternal rest.
