Central Iowa freight wreck near Gifford injures crew
A two-train collision on the Central North of Gifford at 2 am left engines derailed on the bridge. Conductors and engineers from both trains were among the injured, with McGowan, Crellin, and Dillon seriously hurt. A special train carried the wounded to safety and repairs followed.
