Pine Lake Wildlife Club Auction at Pine Lake Clubhouse
The Pine Lake Wildlife Club will hold a stag fish fry and auction Thursday at the clubhouse north of Lower Pine Lake to supplement the club’s general fund and support conservation projects. Eighteen members solicited merchandise for the auction. Funds aid club maintenance, a new fence along the highway at Hudson Memorial Park, and erosion control efforts. Serving is from 5 to 8 p.m. followed by the auction and a 1954 officer election.

Thayer Appointment Effective Yesterday
World War II veteran Gaylord A. Thayer of Alden, 38, named office manager of the Hardin county PMA office at Iowa Falls. The appointment is effective yesterday with a $3,760 annual salary. Thayer previously worked for the Department of Agriculture in Des Moines before military service from 1943 to 1946. The county committee will attend a Marshalltown meeting on Wednesday about the state-wide corn acreage allotment program for 1954, including a farm-to-farm canvass and field data.
