The 3 by 5 foot new 50 star flag arrived at Eldora’s Hardin County courthouse and is shown by Heinie Grobe and custodian Chauncey Crosser. Grobe will lead a VFW drive to sell flags around the city with orders taken for larger banners. flags with staff and display gear cost 1 and 10 dollars.
Registration for Eldora Turkey Days to be held Nov 21 will begin here Saturday, per chairman Paul Schaa. Participating merchants will be listed in Hardin County Index. Prospective participants should contact Schaa. A Turkey Day committee meeting was held at the Chamber of Commerce office Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with members including Guy Brown Harley Hoelscher Harold Creps George Martin and John Starr.
Lester E. Ose Eldora and Mrs. Mary Jo McGilvray Iowa Falls served on the county Republican steering group while Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Welden Jow Falls attended Des Moines Friday for a GOP strategy session led by Senator Thruston B. Morton, national chairman.
County residents cast ballots from 8 am to 8 pm in Hardin county to choose town and city officials for two years. Voting sites include Andrle Creps Furniture Store Ward 1 Eldora Plumbing Ward II City Hall Ward I and Brinkmeyer Garage Ward IV with no parking near polling locations.
Warren Towley a farm laborer filed in district court seeking 45000 damages from Al Ellis of Sherman township for a farm accident in November 1957 that severed his right leg below the knee. He alleges negligence for unsafe tools and lack of a guard on the power take off while unloading corn with a tractor and elevator and that he was working without lights. He claims the injury is permanent and ends his ability to do ordinary work. John P White sell of Iowa Falls represents Towley.
Marshall county officials announced a five mile paving plan extending west from Liscomb and then north to the Hardin county line for work next year. The Union to Marshall county line segment totaling about 2.75 miles will be graded by the county with future hard surfacing plans. A hard surfaced road currently exists from Albion to Marshalltown.

Perry James Wilson longtime Eldora resident died Thursday morning at home. Services conducted by Hey Dewey Larchprecht included burial in Eldora Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack Crosser Eugene Panthen Bill Winther Larry Jeske Martin Struck and Woodrow Wilson. Survived by widow Alma Jeske two sisters Jessie Wilson and Addie Archer and brother Faye W. Wilson. He was born November 20 1898 in Grundy County and served in World War I in the Philippine Islands.
Eidora Industrial Development Corporation board of directors will convene Friday at 7 30 pm in the chamber office to approve a stock sales plan and establish a comprehensive policy and financial inventory. Attending will president H J Bolumitz and stockholders including Bernard Haapala C G Rubow and El dora firms.
Eldora Community School will not hold classes on Friday November 6 as teachers attend the Iowa State Teacher's Convention in Des Moines. Dismissal will be at 2 pm on Thursday, announced Superintendent Paul J Simons.

Eldora high school students and teachers contribute 126 dollars to the United Drive fundraiser. Fifty dollars comes from the student council fund. In 1958 the local school gave 4952 dollars. No other totals were available at press time Monday morning. The United Fund board meets Friday at 8 pm in the Chamber of Commerce office for a final donations report.
Eldora Community School will hold open houses during American Education Week November 8 to 14. The high school junior high event is November 9 at 7 30 PM in the study hall with 15 minute class periods and PT A hospitality coffee. The elementary open house is November 11 from 7 30 to 9 30 PM with teachers in rooms to discuss student progress and display work. Coffee served by room mothers in the all purpose room.
Mrs. Dale Pickering and her four year old son Keith were hurt when their 1954 Ford Station Wagon struck a bridge abutment about 10 pm Saturday near their farm northeast of Hubbard. Mrs Pickering suffered fractured ribs and cuts while Keith leg was broken. Two other children, Virginia six and Gennie one, escaped injury. The family was taken to Hubbard for treatment and then moved to Eldora hospital.

A youth building program starts at 6 30 tonight ahead of the Hardin County Farm Bureau meeting with main business a 1960 policy and officer elections. Incumbents and challengers for president vice president secretary and treasurer seek seats while three door prizes and a free pancake supper accompany the event. William Hake Radcliffe piano and Letlow sisters provide entertainment as members are urged to attend.
Laurence L. Kelly of Eldora is recovering in Lutheran Hospital Hampton after a head-on crash on a Geneva hill. He remains critical, has chest injuries and five broken ribs, with injections and oxygen. passenger Marvin Jacobson, Iowa Falls, dislocated and fractured wrist. Both men on business for King Construction Co of Iowa Falls, Kelly to return to Eldora soon.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Klettke have bought the Paul Zeltnar estate home at 132 20th Ave southwest with possession to be taken on or before November 16. C. O. Rubow, royal realtor, handled the transaction.
The Steamboat Rock school parent teacher conference originally planned for Thursday, Nov. 5, is moved to Wednesday, Nov. 4 due to Town Electric Light and Power Co power shut off. K through 6 pupils dismiss early at 11 30 am for 15 minute conferences. No school Friday for teachers state convention in Des Moines.

Gerald Rullestad, 23, of Huxley was sentenced to five years in the State Penitentiary at Ft. Madison after pleading guilty to larceny in a Buckeye elevator break in on October 1. Harvey Hill of Webster City remains jailed on Buckeye and Hubbard Implement break in charges, awaiting next term. Lloyd Hood, a Training School inmate from Mason City, pleaded guilty to assault with intent to cause great bodily injury.
Harold Dettbarn was elected 1960 president of the Eldaca Kiwanis Club at its annual meeting. He will succeed Cliff Shannon. new officers include Robert Longenecker as vice president Cal Moore secretary and Linus Doughty treasurer. Board members named were Pete De Conk Age Jensen Clem Marsden Linyd Palmitier Cecil Rooks R A Scott and Wm Werning. Werning will miss his post Nov 9 to take a new job, Shannon becomes retiring president and joins the board.
Bob Bays reports the opening of Bob's Plumbing and Heating at Union in the John Deere implement building. The new firm will handle Green Colonial products and offer plumbing and heating services to local customers.
Eldora Bowl joined the Central Iowa TV Proprietors Group as sponsor of the Sunday Lets Go Bowling show on WHO TV. Local bowlers can qualify for the program aired from 5 to 6 p m each Sunday, announced by owner-operator Gene DeMarco this week.
Hood and Bullestad among Train ing School boys cited in beating of Dudley Foes night supervisor. Hood and Bullestad numbered 16th and 7th state cases before the court per county attorney Wm N Dunn. Also, Darlene M Quivey granted a divorce from Richard G Quivey for cruel and inhuman treatment. Judge Kelly closed the October term.
Pine Lake Steamboat Rock and surrounding rural lines will be without power from moon to 5 p m Thursday November 5 as Iowa Electric Light and Power changes primary voltage from 7200 to 12500 volts boosting capacity by about 40 percent. Manager Virg Schmidt says average 1968 usage was 3383 kilowatt hours and is roughly doubled by 1968. five hour outage allows transformer wire changes and worker safety.
