Area schools begin the countdown to commencement with three baccalaureate services and one graduation this week. Steamboat Rock’s 17 seniors graduate Friday May 13 at 8 p.m. in the school gym. Baccalaureate for New Providence Hubbard and Radcliffe graduates is Sunday May 15 with Hubbard at 2 p.m., New Providence at 2:30, and Radcliffe at 7:20. Eldora’s 66 seniors graduate Wednesday May 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the school gym. Marriage license issued for Dennis Lee Knapp and Evelyn Mae Kolthoff, both of Iowa Falls.

Woman In Hospital Following Accident Near Eldora
An Eldora woman remains hospitalized after a two car crash Saturday noon north of Eldora. Bernice Allbee and Harold Putnam were taken to Eldora Community Hospital. Allbee's passenger Tony, 3, was also in the car. Putnam, a rural mail carrier, faced a charge of failure to yield at a stop. Both cars were totaled. The Hardin County Sheriff's Department investigated.

Eight-Unit Complex Plans Begin Steamboat Rock Drive
Steamboat Rock starts a fund drive for an eight unit senior housing project after a public information session attended by 70. The plan needs 10,000 local funds to obtain a Farmers Home Administration loan for low rent housing and 16 residents must sign interest forms. So far 1,000 has been raised and 30 forms signed.
