The debate centers on how the extra revenue would be used, with Grundy county alone paying about 150000 dollars more annually under the higher rate.

Eldora Congregational and Methodist junior department hosts a two week program titled Jesus is his home for the junior dept with 62 members and 31 leaders. Mrs Don Wilson leads as superintendent with numerous teachers from all grades contributing to opening worships and projects.
Eldora high school graduated 60 students at commencement with many planning further study or entry into work. Several will enter colleges such as Iowa, Iowa State, Valparaiso, Drake, Luther, Simpson, or St. Olaf, while others plan nursing, beautician, airline, or business training. Some will join the armed services or stay in local jobs, with several undecided between service and college.
A quick discovery of a rear grill cafe fire early Saturday prevented a major downtown blaze. The fire started in a refrigerator motor, scorching walls and a work table, with smoke and fire damage estimated between 1200 and 1000 dollars. Eldora business Rigert's Wallpaper and Paint Store will hold a three day open house next week. Mack's Cleaners ties Steamboat Rock for lead in Eldora Softball with a 4 1 victory over VFW. Bob Brown wins Iowa Falls amateur with 106 for 27 holes amid rain.
The Pine Lake Country Club hosted its Cotton Ball Dance on Thursday with 48 couples in cotton outfits. Hall Texas provided music and a late buffet, awarding door prizes of watermelons and cantaloupes to Dr. Les Berry, Kenneth Anway, Will Dunn, and Harry Boeke. committees included Mr. and Mrs. Don Priske and others.
Mrs Emma Kewatt hosted the Double 4-500 Club meeting on Wednesday evening with Mrs Clara Raske presiding. Members played 500 and awards went to Mrs Raske for high prize, Mrs Burns for sow, and Mrs Rigel for rover and draw prize. Refreshments followed. Next gathering is a picnic at City Park on July 17.
Mrs Wayne Newby hosted the Eldora Cemetery Society at noon with 27 members attending a pot luck. Reports by committees were given and the next meeting is July 3 with hostesses Mrs E J Froning and Mrs Edith Rex assisting.
Janice Irene Curry and Jerry L. Crosser wed at Wakonda Christian Church Des Moines in a 3 PM ceremony. The celebration featured candlelabras, gladioli and stocks, a wide emerald green bridal party, a Rainbow Bible ring ceremony, and a reception with cake, gifts, and out of town guests from multiple Iowa towns and Kentucky.
The Methodist Adult Bible class of 85 members held a noon pot luck and business meeting. They sent an 85 donation to the milk fund at the Baby Fold in Dubuque. Topics discussed were Household Help and Flowers. Roll call showed 76 calls for the month. Mrs Ona Brown will host the July 16 meeting.
The Rebekah Circle met Thursday evening at home for a 6:30 p.m. potluck dinner. Mrs. Claude Goodson presided at the business meeting. Members sewed carpet rags. The circle will resume on September 4 with a noon potluck and a 2 p.m. meeting.
The annual Whitwood family reunion will be held at Pine Lake Lodge Sunday, July 18. An invitation to all relatives is extended. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Daleske were Wednesday evening guests in Iowa Falls in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Nehring and their son Lynn.
The wedding of Miss Barbar Heinzeroth daughter of Mrs Margaret Heinzeroth and Jos eph Haller son of Mrs Ade line Haller of Estes Park Colorado took place Sunday June 2 at 1 30 p.m. at the Little River Church at Nashua. The Rev Glenn Utterback performed the double ring ceremony. The church organist played the nuptial music throughout. The bride wore a gown of opt lon lace over tiffany blue with white satin cummerbund and bow and a illusion net veil held by a tiara. She carried a bouquet of red tin roses. Attending were Miss Mary Fonealking and Gary Goodale. Mrs Haller has taught in Ackley grade school the past two years. Mr Hindler is in contracting business. After the ceremony the couple left for a wedding trip to the Black Hills Mount Rushmore and Estes Park before making their home in Estes Park. Guests included Mrs Margaret Heinzeroth and others from Iowa Falls Hubbard and Ackley.
A flurry of visits and travels fills Eldora and nearby towns as families and friends, including the Cardes, Bas haws, Huntleys, Jeffries, and Atwoods, travel between De Kalb Chicago Day nport and Minnesota to visit relatives. Several plan trips to California and Arizona while others attend events and family gatherings over the weekend.
The Congregation of Women's Guild from Mason City toured the Jews Training School for Boys in Eldlera on June 17. The group observed how the school handles spiritual aspects and daily operations.
The Great 58 Yul Brynner stars with Marcia Schell and a large cast in a MetroColor feature from the famed model. The Brothers Karamazov appears on the giant screen at the New Grand Theatre two days next Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, June 29 to July 1.
