A 1949 Community Chest report for Eldora shows a 4000 goal reached only 3050 with 86 cents per person. Of 48 towns, Eldora ranked near the bottom in per capita giving while larger cities fared better. Final allotments to agencies were not available, prompting calls to either fix the drive or drop it and possibly consolidate appeals to boost support.

Also marriage of Andrew Campbell and Lena Bier at Gifford Secor, high school declamatory contest winners, a 20 man Eldora Pipe and Tile plant start date, and a musket accident injuring Herbert Strahorn.
A fragment from a friend’s letter titled test five days and nights or four hundred thirty two thousand seconds recounts home remedies and a throat painting by a doctor. The note blends humor about illness, social worries, and hospital stay with brief mentions of gifts, visitors, and neighbors.

Three families move into Union area as school board approves a bond measure and repairs plan for New Providence district in 1960.
A historical plate shows the old Eldora Memorial Hospital building operated by Dr N C Morse. The WPA tore it down in 1938 while work on a new hospital began on the same corner, opening in 1939 with Edward White as contractor.
