Miss Beanie Nehring returned home Thursday from Eldora hospital after treatment from an injury in the consolation game at the girls sectional tournament Saturday evening. Miss Jeanne Balvant is confined at home with chicken pox.
Hardin county residents can view the latest lawn practices at Eldora as Iowa State College showcases new grasses including Zoysia Merion bluegrass and fescues. Visitors may see touch and compare turf building qualities while specialists discuss lawn and garden topics and steps to a vigorous lawn.
A survey of traffic accidents across half the states shows motor vehicle fatalities have surged 87 percent since 1928 despite modernized highways, speed limits, and safer cars. In 90 percent of crashes the vehicle was deemed safe, underscoring individual responsibility for safety and signaling growing emphasis on personal driving discipline.
Tee for Traffic Safety reports progress in reducing fatalities while the National Safety Council highlights dangerous days and promotes traffic safety. Despite enforcement, long-term gains from school driver education are expected as tests improve. 935,000 students are enrolled. insurers offer lower rates for trained young drivers.
