Real teamwork in Eldora powers a March of Dimes polio fundraiser. A home talent show raised over 200 dollars for the foundation, with broad town support and facilities donated. Eldora Consolidated Schools contributed 295 dollars as teachers and students joined the effort for a 100 percent faculty participation.

A birthday visit to Stephen Young drew Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Chance and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Broer, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Brown and Liscomb visitors from T B Chance.

Also notes youth fellowships and prayer services across several congregations in the area.
Mrs. Fred Cummins celebrated her son George's birthday with a party at their home on Saturday inviting about a dozen of his boyfriends. Mrs. Luther Reece has returned home from El Dora hospital convalescing after being an inpatient. Mrs. B C Dean has been ill at home but improving. Mrs. C A Norman is slowly recovering and sitting up. John Troy returned Thursday to the home of his sister and brother-in-law after three weeks visiting Ames Sioux City and LeMars. The farmers night school enters its final sessions with Swine Feeding and Management topics, including Herd Improvement and APF in Swine Nutrition with K L Lepley as guest. Rev and Mrs Guilford Street hear their son Claire is ill in India and in a nursing home for a few days. Harold Hough's progress reports are encouraging from Perry with medical care. S Sgt Bill Hough leaves Hubbard for Oakland to transfer for overseas duty, likely to South Pacific, destination undisclosed. The term Uncle Sam likely originated in the War of 1812 when government property was stamped by government agents.
Iowa State College advises soybean varieties tailored to regions with Adams, Hawkeye, Lincoln, Nar yana and Chief recommended for 1960. Adams suited to central and southern Iowa, Lincoln known for high yield and oil, Hawkeye preferred in northern and central regions, with Mariyana best on medium fertility soils in the north, and Chief adaptable to less fertile southern soils. Seed distribution advised through county committees.
