March of Dimes Campaign Delayed by Weather
Poor weather halted house to house canvassing across many areas delaying the annual March of Dimes drive for Infantile Paralysis funds. Campaign chairman Walter Guenther said contributions are likely to surpass last year’s 4500 total, with Town Falls reporting over 1000 collected and several county benefits expected to bring in hundreds more.

Auto Hits Snowplow On Iowa Falls Bridge Injures Driver
Dale Carlbom a 37 year old Nevada resident suffered a badly lacerated face and head after his car collided with a snowplow on a bridge eight miles south of Iowa Falls on Highway 46 last Monday morning. He was taken to Ellsworth hospital in Iowa Falls for numerous stitches. The snowplow operator Marion Hayden 28 of Iowa Falls was also injured. Damages to the car were estimated near $400. Authorities said Carlbom while alone attempted to pass the plow from behind as both vehicles traveled south.

Eldora School Receives 37000 in State Non Tax Aid
Eldora Consolidated school will receive about 37000 in state aid for tuition and transportation costs for out of district students this year. The Midort Memorial Hospital celebrates its 10th anniversary next Sunday. Since opening on February 6, 1939, the two story brick structure has grown to employ 26 people and serve patients from miles around. Over ten years it registered 10,135 patients, delivered 1,745 babies, and recorded 222 deaths. Total day rate income reached about 269,190 with salaries paid around 194,437. The original board included Bateson, Wehrman, Whorrall, Leonard and Stebe. today Whorrall, Orgel, Kramer, Schmitz and Butler serve. Orville Peterson was its first superintendent. the current superintendent is Mrs. Lillian T. Swenson.

George Lynk 59 buried after snow death
Funeral services for George E. Lynk age 59 owner of East Side Marathon service station were held Monday at 2:30 p m from Longenecker funeral home. He died Friday from a heart attack while shoveling snow. Burial at Eldora cemetery. Surviving wife Lois Ellen Bradfield, son Raymond, two granddaughters, sister Margaret and brothers Lester Louis.
