Eldora retail sales tax totals for the second quarter of 1959 rose by 1,733 over the 1958 period, to 30,756 from 29,023. The April to June period shows varied gains across area towns including Ackley with a 1,394 decrease and Town Falls with a 11,216 increase. Hampton 5,835, Independence 3,836, Anamosa 2,902 boosts, Osage 1,998, Clarion 1,715, Belle Plaine 832, Grundy Center 758.

Land Options Obtained For Eldora Industrial Park
Eldora Industrial Development Corporation secured options on 41 acres for a future industrial park in west Eldora including the Finger site and adjacent properties. A stockholders meeting was called to raise about 15 500 dollars with around 3 000 already raised. The Finger property leads the venture with rail, power, sewer, gas and water access and a 12 acre Minert DeVries parcel plus five acres of Noah Clay land. The group plans to zone the development as commercial and hopes to attract new industry to Eldora.

Ralston Puimacy of Iowa Falls seeks modification of its water permit to withdraw 375 million gallons annually and 300 to 900 gallons per minute from the Iowa River for industrial use. About 470 students from Ackley Grundy Center Reinbeck Traer Jesup La Porte City and Eldora travel to Eldora on Saturday Dec 5 for the North Iowa Cedar League Conference Band Festival. Three SUI Students Injured in Highway Crash
Wednesday on highway 78 at Radcliffe about 2 45 p m a car carrying three University of Iowa medical students skidded on ice and struck a second vehicle then hit a light pole.
