More Farm Storage Space Urged By ASC
Hardin county farmers are urged to expand grain storage as a bumper harvest nears. J C Whitehead, ASC chair, says many have already added structures and more will follow. May Organize Dog Club Here

Hardin County Gains in State Road Use Funds
Hardin county received about $2,000 more in state road use funds in the first six months of this year than in the same period in 1954. Iowa Taxpayers association released county figures showing $138,067 for this year versus $136,046 last year. Funds cover maintenance and construction of secondary roads and can reduce taxes or augment the program. farm to market funds are excluded.

Fire Destroys Barn and Hay on Owasa Farm
A large barn and a quantity of hay and oats were destroyed by fire on the farm of Mrs. Louis Latch one mile north of Owasa. Spontaneous combustion of hay was blamed. The Eldora fire department assisted the Jackson township unit. Tenants Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Campbell saved several cows and hogs before flames consumed the barn. the structure was insured.

Seven five cent rides set up east of the courthouse square with operations starting Wednesday night. Kiddies Days run Thursday and Friday with Saturday as rain date. Vinton Low Bidder for Grundy Center City Building
Eldora contractor Les Vinton was the low bidder for Grundy Center’s new city office building, a $27 267 structure. Construction is to start soon and finish by January 1 1956. Other bids came from Brockway Grundy Center for plumbing and heating and Tucker Teasdale Grundy Center for electricity. The old building will be moved and later sold after the new offices are ready. The council altered specs lowering bids from 30 267 to 27 7 and approved the project on the site of the existing city hall citing a favorable lease with the Post Office Department. The department offered a 15 year lease at 2300 annually, with option to end or extend to 15 years, totaling 34 500 to retire the 27 Out water revenue bonds plus interest.

Conrad Service For Sherbon 86 Dies at Eldora
Services were held at Conrad for Howard W. Sherbon 46 of Eldora who died Friday night at his home after farming in Grundy county. Interment was in Alice cemetery north of Conrad. Born in Cedar County he moved to Grundy Center at age 10 and married Ida Strickler in 1896. Surviving are his wife three daughters and three sons, Mrs. Guy Stover and John Sherbon Cedar Falls, Mrs. Alice Price Beaman, Mrs. Floyd Stevens Conrad, Merle Boone and Bur dette Canoga Calif. A brother and four sisters also survive.

Barn Erection Set for August Ninth at Fair Grounds
4-H leaders, Hardin County Livestock Association members, older 4-H boys, extension personnel, and vocational agriculture workers will join on Tuesday August 9 at the fair grounds to complete a new livestock barn project. Earth fill is in place north of the swine barn, rafters and poles will be installed, and the open pole structure with sheet metal roof measures 120 by 60 feet. The barn will hold about 70 to 78 cattle and aims to reduce the need for rented tents for overflow livestock.

Burns From Home Explosion Injures Mrs. Wagner
Mrs. Pearl Wagner of Eldora was severely burned Friday night when a pressure cooker exploded while she was canning beans. She suffered body and arm burns and was taken to Eldora Memorial hospital for treatment.
