Six hundred discharged workers attacked a room displaying President McKinley images at the Westinghouse Air Brake plant in Wilming, Pennsylvania. Four hundred workers were notified of wage cuts and layoff, sparks of anger led to torn prints and bonfires of uniforms and regalia.
The post commander lays out a detailed procession and ceremony plan for Memorial Day. Veterans, Emmet Crawford Post 19, and Confederate Veterans will march to the Grand Army plot and hold a ritual and grave decorations followed by services led by Rev. H. W. Moore at the Presbyterian church on Myrtle Avenue. Relatives are asked to join, with events coordinated for 7:30 PM at the G A R hall and the 8:00 PM service downtown.
Chicago May 29 A hotel banquet room hosted a farewell dinner for a son of a wealthy pork packer amid wild entertainment by vaudeville stars and a table top dancer. Guests, sons of millionaires, showered the performer with coins as a thin ceiling collapsed and policemen did not intervene.
