A Cebu report says Major Andrews led a joint Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth infantry force with Johnson's scouts against Gen. Mexico on April 26. Rebels held three hills, fought three hours, then fled. Americans seized fifty rifles nine cannons and many prisoners with two killed and eleven wounded.

In Sanderson Texas on May 11 a resident heard two gunshots and found Guillermo Lerma had murdered Silveano Gircia. The killer remains at large as Ranger Wood Saunders pursues him from Marathon. J Mark Baugh of Sonora starts a building to house a printing office and a paper soon to follow.

Dawson arrivals report valuable gold deposits uncovered in lake beds of the upper Yukon basins. The discoveries come as lakes are drained to extend the White Pass and Yukon railway.
Victoria B C May 11 The steamship Sikh arrived with 400 Japanese workers many of whom have contracts with a New York firm to work in New England mills.
The Jose De Leyba grant of 16,000 acres in Santa Fe county claimed by Mariano S. Sena was rejected. The Roque Jacinto Jaramillo grant in Rio Arriba county was also rejected. The Santa Teresa grant near El Paso was confirmed within the claimed boundaries.
The Ancient Order of Hibernians named John T. Keating of Chicago as president James E Dolan of Syracuse as vice president J P Bree of New Haven as secretary and P T Morgan of Washington D C as treasurer The next convention is set for Denver in July 1901.
Jane Powell also known as Jim Powell, about 17, arrived from Fort Worth and was seen gambling while posing as a boy in El Paso. Her case is set for police court tomorrow morning.
Real Estate and Industrialists prepare for the Texas association semi annual convention in San Antonio on June 27 and 28. Low railroad rates to the city are promised and delegates from across the state are urged to attend. Mrs A M Pierson a leading Orion Mining stockholder and ally of newspaper boys left by overland train for Lorasburg New Mexico. The two heavy loaded wagons carried ore hauling gear from the Dundee mine to the railroad. She travels with her daughter.
