Chicago machinists win a nine hour workday after protracted bargaining with employers. The victory strengthens organized labor in the city as workers celebrate improved conditions and the broader impact on factory schedules.
In Chicago on March 26 two hundred sixty five machinists returned to Siemens and Halske electrical works. A further hundred are to return Wednesday night after the Internationl Machinists association signed an agreement that meets their demands and recognizes the nine hours day. The union says the accord foreshadows a general strike settlement as other firms are expected to sign soon.

A local color club held a dedication event last night celebrating community heritage. Residents from downtown and volunteers joined, sharing remarks and refreshments as a small ceremony closed the evening.

Mrs Nicholas Stuppi died last night at 11:30 in her rooms over Fassett Kelly’s store on El Paso Street. She was 47. Remains are in care of Nagley and Lyons. Funeral time to be set after Mr Stuppi is reached. he is currently 200 miles below Casas Grandes with the Sonora Mining company.
