Perry Gibson Elected Senator From Montana

Perry Gibson was elected United States senator from Montana after an all night session, ending a bitter contest. The 72 year old Great Falls Democrat is described as principled and conservative, with backing from the Daly faction. Carter was not reelected. The president also appointed former Senator Carter as commissioner of the St. Louis exposition with a salary of five thousand dollars a year.
