In Key West on June 2 reports say the capture story of the Alfonso XIII is mistaken. The vessel chased the St Paul but the faster ship escaped. The cruiser reportedly pursued the Alfonso XIII at the end.

Transport ships are off Key West awaiting the second detachment, which supposedly includes engineers siege guns field trains and a small infantry contingent.
