The Boston Herald notes Judge Buckler did not exclude the Ron Guido grant as a forgery. Judge Maxey held the grant valid in form and recording from 1851, but found the executing officer not authorized by Mexican law. The federal circuit court did not rule on forgery, only a legal question.

President McKinley will ask Congress to pass a bill creating a currency commission appointed by the president. The House is expected to approve, but the Senate may block the plan as silver senators demand representation and a split appointment among the president, Senate, and House.
Interstate Commerce Commission convened in Chicago and will take up several investigations before adjournment. The Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul railway admits disobeying instructions to restore former rates claiming tariff competition justified. Other cases include James McMillan and Co. of Minneapolis alleging discrimination and suits by Fred H. Clarke and the Cattle Raisers Association of Texas against Fort Worth and Denver.
San Francisco and neighboring cities prepare for the sixteenth international convention of the Young People s Society of Christian Endeavor to be held in early July. Plans include business and devotional meetings and excursions to nearby points of interest. Six city churches plus one in Oakland and one in Alameda will host simultaneous welcome meetings on opening night.
In Washington on June 2 detectives, ordered by the police inspector, shadowed Speaker Reed after a threatening letter arrived accusing him of aiding efforts to improve San Pedro harbor. The assailant vowed revenge. Reed expressed anger at the surprise surveillance upon waking.

A World special from Washington reports Justice Bradley who acquitted Havemeyer and Searles of the sugar trust has served eight years on the district bench. Records show he has been reversed by the court of appeals in more cases than any of his five associates.
Large party of cyclists departs Chicago heading to Christiana Norway for a long bicycle tour of Northern Europe led by Lieutenant H Hogberg formerly of the Swedish army. The route will extend as far west as St. Petersburg.
Williams Jennings Bryan delivered the first speech of his present tour to a big crowd at Tomlinson ball park in Indianapolis. Three thousand people met him at the railway station as he left this morning for Cleveland to speak tonight.
Washington June 2 The senate political complexion is listed as Republicans 43 Democrats 34 Populists 7 Silver Republicans 5 and one Oregon vacancy, totaling 90 seats. A majority requires 45.
Indications suggest the Greece Turkey conflict is settled and orders issued directing the cruiser Minneapolis to return home immediately after protecting American interests in the east.
ST Lowins June 2. Lloyd Democrat defeated Clark Republican by nearly six thousand votes for Congress yesterday in the First Missouri district. Democratic gains were divided. Lloyd supported silver opposed by Clark on sound money.

In Baltimore on June 2 Edgar Harris, a city letter carrier, killed two of his children and wounded a third before shooting himself. The assailant targeted the family after his wife’s death in February left him despondent and reportedly driven to madness. The surviving son Edgar escaped.
A Dallas report says last night's storm swept half the state causing thousands in damage to cotton and grain areas. Hail destroyed crops and lightning killed a daughter at Hayne's house while injuring another. Near Temple Adolph Vidor's home was ruined and his six year old son drowned.
New York reports Lot 621 of unclaimed and abandoned goods to be sold next week. The items include 1000 Mexican cigarettes marked Made for the Duke of Marlborough and 6000 copies of Lady Cook's Essays on the Evil of Society, plus a pair of padded tights.
In Chicago on June 2 W. W. Ross a printer shot and killed himself in the Typographical Union headquarters. Ross was well known among printers nationwide for his writings on craft needs and improvement.
One hundred skilled railroad men signed an agreement with a company operating lines in China and will depart for the country. Native labor had been tried without success. Engineers will earn $12 a day in American money.
Denver reports many congratulations to Congressman Shafroth after a parliament chess team defeat ties the score with the House of Commons and averts England's expected triumph.
New York June 2 George Gould and his family started for England to day. They will take a house near London. It is hinted they may follow the example of William Waldorf Astor and ultimately make England their home.
London reports the Atlantic transport line steamer Massachusetts struck a fishing smack near Plymouth this morning. Four crew members were drowned.
In St Joseph Missouri on June 2 a constable ejected the family of Bert Cowley. Five children died and six others were ill from measles and exposure following the ejectment. The incident centers on the constable actions and resulting fatalities and illness among Cowley’s family.
The president transmitted to the Senate on June 2 the nominations of Miguel Otero for governor of New Mexico and George H. Wallace for secretary of New Mexico.
SAN ANTONIO June 2 Croja Lon geri an old Mexican woman has been arrested and placed in jail charged with practicing witchcraft. The complaint was made by several Mexicans.
Washington reports on excellent authority that former Chicago congressman Aldrich is slated for the consul general post in Havana.
Washington dispatch says there will be no sugar investigation as the Tillman resolution for an inquiry will be reported by the committee adversely.
Dispatches to the War Department report the threatened Indian war in the northwest has been averted this morning. No details on tribes or locations are provided. The status appears to calm potential hostilities in the region.
Minneap Public report states William Williams aged four was instantly killed when a pitched baseball struck him over the heart in Minneapolis on June 2. Local officials investigate the accident as a tragic sports incident.
Pittsford New York June 2 Mrs Rigenor of this village delivered a daughter weighing 194 pounds last evening in a remarkable birth reported to local authorities the infant and mother are said to be in good health.
CHICAGO June 2 The state is pressing to move Luetgart's murder trial against his wife up for an immediate proceeding, aiming to expedite justice in the case.
Engineer J L Campbell reports the dam at Selden intact and the inverted siphon under the Rio Grande undamaged. The canal below the dam is slightly damaged with a repair cost estimated at five hundred dollars. The El Paso flood leaves much of the town submerged two to three feet while residents sue to curb the Rio Grande damage.
In the Kelly Western Union damage suit Judge Buckler sustains demurrer ruling the case barred by the statute of limitations and the plaintiff gives notice of appeal in district court today.
President McKinley formally opens the Americas Convention and welcomes delegates as Congress advances closer cementing trade relations.
President McKinley arrives with cabinet and diplomats as the Pan American Congress opens at the Philadelphia Commercial Museum. He stresses aims to expand trade and industrial prosperity, with a grand banquet at the Bourse tonight and support from the federal government.

Captain Hughes of troop D state rangers says after the last train robbery the rangers could not reach the scene before dark and had to wait until morning.
