Isolated disorders persist in New Orleans as Mayor Capdeville says the situation is under control. Militia and police have arrested many suspects, 1500 troops are deployed citywide, and Charles, the murderer of two policemen, remains at large but is pursued across surrounding counties.
Special dispatch from San Antonio reports Captain Chas L Hodges of the Twenty-fifth Infantry promoted to major. Captain R H R Loughborough becomes senior infantry captain and commander of the department battalion in the Twenty-fifth. Loughborough has served in the Twenty-fifth since 1875 rising from second lieutenant to captain by 1891.
Lincoln Nebraska July 27 Bryan spends half his time on his farm, dictating his reply to a notification speech to his stenographer. He started this plan yesterday and will repeat it daily Secretary Edgarton will leave soon for Chicago to arrange opening of branch national headquarters and to confer with Democratic leaders.
The town of Oglesbuj was destroyed by fire today. Nine people were injured, one of them Charles Olsen is believed fatally hurt. The property loss is estimated at $50,000.
The government has established a large corral in Seattle Washington where 7,000 mules are being gathered for service in China.

El Paso baseball is described as inactive, with rain delaying National League games yesterday.
George Brennan, a Texas native, is jailed on theft charges after deputies found four chickens at a rundown shack near the old fair grounds. Investigators recovered eleven canvas hams and other small items, with letters suggesting trouble in another place and possible origins in Kansas or Missouri. Brennan, who owns a cattle ranch in Mexico and planned to settle in El Paso, denies the chicken theft and remains unperturbed alongside a white fox terrier in his cell.

Charley Boller, owner of Parlor Barber, was held up near his home at 8 55 pm. A dark-skinned man in a black suit and light hat snatched a $101.20 sack from his coat, knocked him unconscious with the theft, and fled after a short dash. Police have a detective on the case.
