A program for tonight lists a 7 p.m. historical and allegorical pageant along principal streets and a 7 30 p.m. reception for visiting newspaper men at the El Paso club in the Mills building. Confetti and serpentine battles are planned on public streets.
Tomorrow January 19 features a full schedule starting 10 a m with roping tying and Rough Riding at Athletic Park, 11 a m stock parade from Exhibition Hall to Oregon and back, 12 noon grand parade and queen's escort, 1 p m football game at Athletic Park, 3 p m bull fight in Juarez, 7 p m grand pyro show costing $5 000, 8 p m confetti battles, 10 p m masquerade ball at Courthouse and Natatorium. Free Hereford livestock exhibit on South Oregon, mineral exhibit by chamber of commerce, midways, parades and band concerts throughout the day.
The Carnival drew tired visitors from far and near as out of town journalists gathered at the El Paso club rooms. A grand parade, mid way shows, and a confetti battle drew crowds while Ysseta Indians arrived to perform. The Mt Franklin eruption is planned for tomorrow night with a one mile safety rule. A roping contest at Athletic Park promises a top western event with 18 entries and more expected. Police warn masks after 11 pm to curb mischief.
In Tucson Arizona Juan Lopez a workman at the Copper Queen smelter was killed when molten copper fell from a swinging pot striking him his clothes ignited and his body was badly burned by the liquid metal.
Washington Jan 18 Republicans in the Senate caucus today selected the approach to pending bills. The Nicaraguan canal measure stays in statu quo until Britain replies to the Hay Pauncefote treaty amendments. Senator Hanna scored a notable victory amid discussions. The subsidy bill will remain unfinished business for Monday.
Denver, Colo. Jan 18 The coal shortage has grown to 5000 cars for two weeks as markets run unevenly. Organizers push strikers in Trinidad possibly widening the strike while Colorado Springs mines may reopen without wage hikes. The legislature plans investigations as operators and workers wait for concessions with no settlement in sight.
Jan 18 report from New York says the West Point hazing inquiry will seek summary expulsion for at least six cadets once investigations end. Cadet MacArthur, son of the Philippines' commander, top of his class, previously endured hazing with convulsions but did not admit it when questioned.

At 4 o'clock this morning near Middlebury Indiana a Mil ler farmer Benjamin Miller's home caught fire. Four children on the second floor perished as the parents worked nearby. The stairway and walls failed trapping the family before help could reach them.
San Antonio officials announce a city election on February 11 to elect a mayor assessor collector auditor recorder and eight aldermen. It is believed the mayor and most officials will be reelected with possible exceptions for the recorder and some ward aldermen.

A head on collision of Grand Trunk freights near Lock's Mill Norway Maine resulted in four deaths and serious injuries. Four locomotives and twelve cars were demolished. Victims include Peter Thomas Montreal and W C Oliver Bangor with two unknown tramps. One train carried a large quantity of explosives causing fires and scattered embers hindering firefighting.
