Reports from Paardeburg dated February twenty one describe heavy fighting as Gen. Kelly-Kenny’s forces clash with Cronje’s Boers near Klip Drift. Casualties exceed eight hundred with several thousand engaged including Knox’s brigade and the Highlanders.
The Democratic National Committee met at the Raleigh hotel and heard delegations from Milwaukee Kansas City Cincinnati and New York. Milwaukee and Kansas City led in cash offers as the committee narrowed choices with Kansas City favored by a 40 to 9 vote.
Representatives from all parts of the Indian Territory meet at McAlester to draft a petition to Congress for relief amid chaotic conditions affecting public schools insane asylums and land townsite ownership. The conference seeks Indian Territory representation in Congress and a territorial government, promising broad participation and action by a to be appointed committee to present the memorial.
In Frankfort on February 22 the court of appeals did not sit as mob violence reportedly threatened two Democratic judges. Judges met and adjourned. dismissal of the legislature sine die is debated. Senator Lafferty plans to seek adjournment, with Democrats opposing and Republicans favoring it to aid Taylor’s position.

The event featured violin and vocal numbers, a kindergarten tableau, and a finale minuet thrilling attendees. Washington birthday programs followed in Mesa School with student recitations and songs.

Miss Gould's day reports in Noblesville Indiana that Congressman Charles B Landis, who backed Miss Helen Gould against Brigham H Roberts, was renominated by acclamation by Republicans of the Ninth district. His withdrawal from the governor race is noted as part of the acceptance.
On February 22 a pigeon was found on the premises of R. W. Magon two miles south of Gorman in Eastland county. The bird bore a neckcard reading 2-12 On the prairie in Arizona bound to free me Goodbye, Ned Gordan. Gordan is believed to be a cattleman missing in Arizona.
The Harvey restaurant on the Little Plaza has been turned over to U. S. Marshal Hildebrand for disposition in the bankruptcy. It is not known what will be done with the furniture and fixtures, though rumors suggest Chinese restaurant operators may buy them.
Local observer N. D. Lane remarks the weather is agreeable but cautions it is too early to plan for spring. The report notes wind and charges affecting the season ahead.
In New York on February 20 copper traded at 163, silver at 594, and lead at 4.45, reflecting market quotes for base metals on that day.
