News bulletins state Admiral Dewey reports insurgent forces have attacked Manila in force. The fighting centers on urban streets as U S forces respond to the assault with reinforcements and tactical countermeasures.
The fierce firefight left American forces suffering losses while two hundred Filipinos were reported casualties. The clash followed a brutal assault that, while routed, was anticipated by commanders.
News from Manila reports a renewed insurgent attack on the city, with Dewey ready to land 1500 riflemen and rapid fire guns. American and allied forces suffer casualties as the battle rages, while German arms suppliers and naval movements draw curiosity from Washington and London.
